Akbuk Peninsula, Turkey
In collaboration with Steven Holl Architects, eDesign Dynamics developed a conceptual sustainable water resources plan for a residential and tourist resort on the Akbuk Peninsula, along the Aegean coast of Turkey. The goal for zero environmental impact on the surrounding landscape guided the development of the resort, sited in a location without infrastructure for water or electricity.
Our plan included a train of connected wetland gardens that would serve to manage and treat stormwater runoff while providing elegant niche habitats for wetland plants and fauna. Our services provided SHA with expertise and guidance in exploring a number of design solutions to the problems of water scarcity and habitat enhancement, looking at systems that minimized ecological impact, energy use, and capital costs. The wetland cascade plan was the final product of several design permutations.Site plans by Steven Holl Architects.
