Baker Field Waterfront Park, Columbia University, New York
eDesign Dynamics worked with James Corner Field Operations to create fresh water wetlands and a salt marsh at Columbia University’s Baker Field, on the northern tip of Manhattan, New York.
eDesign Dynamics conducted a feasibility analysis and designed surface and tidal hydrology models to ensure the restored wetlands will have a suitable hydrologic regime. As a part of the design team, we provided salt marsh elevations, determined energy attenuation necessary to absorb wave energy, and proposed light regime modifications based on the reference sites and feasibility. Our engineers also developed erosion control and stabilization measures and designed a sediment accumulation collection system for the fresh water system. eDesign Dynamics oversaw the wetland and salt marsh installation and monitoring to ensure proper growth.
