New York City, New York
eDesign Dynamics worked with the New York City Soil and Water Conservation District to design and construct green infrastructure retrofit systems on various private properties throughout New York City.
These systems consist of diverting stormwater runoff from the building's roof into a barrel and, in turn, using that runoff to water stormwater planters. The planters are designed to manage the 1-inch storm, through a combined retention/detention mechanism, thus alleviating the City's combined sewer system. To prevent flooding, the system is designed to be bypassed when the planters are at capacity. The planters are planted with native freshwater wetland plantings, providing a habitat for numerous birds and insects.
