Brooklyn, NY
EDD serves as the ecological restoration consultant on a waterfront development on the East River in Brooklyn, NY. The project will transform a former oil terminal into an ecologically sensitive development with a public park and boardwalk integrated within restored shoreline habitat.
EDD is working with landscape architecture firm James Corner Field Operations to design ecosystems that provide high-value marine and intertidal habitats with cascading benefits to adjacent areas. EDD is also working closely with other project partners on the permitting process, helping to configure the proposed design for efficient and cost-effective environmental approvals. EDD is contributing its understanding of near shore and intertidal ecosystems as well as its experience with DEC’s regulations and approvals process to assist in meeting project mitigation requirements with minimal delay. Once complete, the project will provide both ecological and public benefits, serving as a landmark example of shoreline restoration.CLIENTS AND PARTNERS
