A master plan process is underway to design a continuous greenway along the Harlem River waterfront adjacent to and north of the Sherman Creek Inlet.
The design scope includes programming a series of recreation spaces and restoring areas of functioning habitat within the Sherman Creek Inlet, along the Harlem River, and upland from the waterfront. As the ecological consultant, eDesign Dynamics performed a hierarchal analysis of existing site conditions to delineate potential habitats worthy of preservation, potential habitats appropriate for enhancement, and potential areas for complete restoration. The primary purpose of the analysis was to identify habitat zones along the proposed greenway and to recommend opportunities for enhancement and/or restoration within the zones. As part of the project we also assessed potential areas for the integration of stormwater management and green infrastructure with restoration efforts, particularly with freshwater wetland creation that captures, manages, and treats street stormwater runoff.CLIENTS AND PARTNERS
